In Wakefield through Aiming High capital, we are providing additional equipment at locations across the district that includes rooms with showers, electric hoists, and high adjustable changing beds.  There are currently facilities at:

• Normanton swimming pool

• Thornes Park Stadium

• Lightwaves

Featherstone, Pontefract and Minsthorpe swimming pools will be adapted over the next 12 months.  We will have these facilities included on the Changing Places website, in the 'Other Changing Facilities' section.

Plans for 2010/11 includes 3 official Changing Places standard facilities at The Ridings, Junction 32 and Anglers Country Park.  The initial plans for the new swimming pool on Sun Lane in Wakefield also includes a Changing Place in the foyer.  All facilities are open to all members of the public and not just confined to those using the facilities.

Facilities which do not provide all the features in the Changing Places standard section or alternative layouts, may not be identified as a Changing Places toilet.  They may however, still be of benefit to disabled people and their carers, and as such information regarding these facilities might be included on the website and identified as a toilet facility with additional features.
