Supported Living Service
What we do
Wakefield Council supports adults with learning disabilities to live in their own home within the community across the Wakefield district.
We aim to provide tenants with good quality services by promoting self-reliance, independence and encouraging each tenant to reach his or her full potential. Support workers assist with day-to-day living and encourage and motivate tenants to live as they choose.
We have accommodation throughout the Wakefield district. The people we support have their own tenancies and live in properties that are owned by Wakefield Council and housing associations.
Anybody over the age of 18 with a learning disability and an assessed need for housing and support is eligible to receive a service from us.
How to access the service
To access the service you will need to have a Community Care Assessment, which is undertaken by a social worker or social care manager. You will also have a financial assessment and we will tell you how much to you will have to pay towards the costs.
Contact us
To access the Supported Living Service you need to contact Social Care Direct on 0845 8 503 503 or email social_care_direct@wakefield.gov.uk.
