Take part in National Takeover Day! - 12 November 2010. Takeover Day is a national event offering children and young people across the country the chance to work alongside adults and get involved in decision-making in a wide range of organisations. Everyone can be part of it!

Now in its fourth year, the event has grown from strength to strength since it was launched. Last year, around 30,000 children and young people worked with hundreds of organisations which included schools.

Family Services is encouraging schools to get involved to make this day a success.  Family Service Directors and managers have already agreed to some looked after children job shadowing them for the day.  Some are making presentations to managers to have a say about how they would like to see Family Services deliver their services to them to make their lives better.

As a school you could invite children to apply to be Head for a day, be a teacher for the day or perhaps ask children to do a presentation to a group of teachers so they can have a say about how they would like to see their school run.

These are just a few suggestions. For more ideas, further information and resources take a look at the National Takeover Day website.

If you decide to participate in this event please let the Information and Publicity Team know so that we can add this to our calendar of events and use for internal communications.  Email: SC_SSPublicInformation@wakefield.gov.uk
